Mandala of Cranberries

October is cranberry harvest time here in NJ.  One of the bogs over at Whitesbog Village was flooded with these lovely cranberries floating on top and the blue sky reflected in the water.

Rebuilding Again – Seaside Park, NJ

Today was a perfect day to go “down the shore”!

Doug and I drove down to Seaside Park to see how the 2nd re-building was going – and to get a gigantic pizza at “The Sawmill”.

Here is the view from Seaside Park looking towards the boardwalk of Seaside Heights.

Re-Building Again - Seaside Park to Seaside Heights by Beth Sawickie http://www.bethsawickie.com

First the boardwalk, stores and rides were destroyed or severely damaged by Super Storm Sandy.  Then fire took out several stores, the boardwalk and what was left of Fun Town Pier in Seaside Park.

Talk about “Jersey Strong” and resilience – these folks keep pushing forward no matter what the challenge.

If they can re-build after a the drop-kicks to the gut they’ve received, then can’t we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off when daily life hits us with a few punches?  I think so!!  Are ya with me?

Sullen Surfer at Sunset

It was freezing – FREEZING out in mid-January and these CRAZY surfer dudes were hitting the waves in LBI (Long Beach Island), NJ.

I guess everyone has their passion…

We Can All Use More Fun

I shot this sign on May 17, 2013 at Seaside Heights, NJ.  Like many towns along the East Coast, Seaside was devastated by Hurricane Sandy in October of 2012.

Seaside is in full swing rebuilding and coming back stronger than ever!

Take a drive “down the shore” and enjoy the boardwalk, games, food and the ocean.  Visit Seaside’s Official Tourism Website – Exit82.com
