I Forgot to Make My Smoothie – Again!

Smoothie Success Strategy #1

Tell me if this sounds familiar….

The alarm clock goes off in the wee hours of the morning.  You rush around to get ready.  Find that shoe that is missing somewhere. Help whomever needs it (kids, dog, husband).  Dash out the door….and oh shoot!  You forgot to make your smoothie!

There just wasn’t enough time to get out the greens and wash them, then get out the fruit, then scoop out the seeds and all the other goodies.

You are then bummed because you KNOW that having that green smoothie in the morning sets you up for a GREAT day!

You KNOW it is an easy way to get a whole bunch of yummy goodness into your body – and you missed out!

I’ve been there…. I was actually there almost every darn morning for a few weeks when life was just crazy hectic.  And I noticed the difference – I didn’t have as much pep, I was eating junk and my skin – ugh – I am truly amazed at just how much my skin reacts to what I eat.

I finally started setting myself up for success with my smoothies 🙂

Here is Smoothie Success Strategy #1:

Get everything set up the night before as much as you can.

You can put all of your smoothie ingredients in your blending container the night before and then you’re ready to go in the morning.  I leave out the liquid until the morning.

This saves a whole bunch of steps.  Just grab your container, poor in your liquid (almond milk for me) and blend – simple!

Repeat after me…

I use a NutriBullet and have a few containers that go with it.

If you are using a cup or so of greens along with frozen fruit, nuts/seeds and some almond milk then you can do the same with the larger container from the Nutri-Bullet too!

If you want to amp up the greens in your smoothie using a Nutri-Bullet then check out my post about How to Get Triple Greens Into Your NutriBullet Green Smoothie.

Eating greens every day is part of the “4-G’s of Feeling Good” (Goin’, Greens, Givin’, Gratitude).  Learn the 4 simple strategies I use to keep myself happy, healthy and thriving in my free book – “Get Back on the Feel Good Train: 4 Simple Strategies to Get You Back on Track

My Top 5 Reasons Why I LOVE Juicing

why i love juicing http://www.BethSawickie.comI have been juicing on and off since early 2012.

  1. It gives me a nice, sustained boost of energy.  Not like when I drink coffee and get an eyes-plastered-open jolt that leads me to a crash later on.
  2. My body craves it! Seriously – one sip and each cell in my body is tingling with happiness.  This happened after juicing for a few days.
  3. It has helped me to loose weight.  I did a juice fast that kicked my cravings and I lost weight too.
  4. My cravings for junk food diminish.  This happens because my body gets plenty of nutrients from the vegetables and is satisfied so it doesn’t send out hunger signals to get me to eat more.  Granted – I DO eat…I’m just not craving junk food.
  5. It allows me to consume the nutrients from many more vegetables than I would normally consume in a day.  This gives my body a dose of beneficial nutrients which helps it to heal.

 What Inspired Me?

The movie “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” is what first inspired me to try it.  You can watch it free with Amazon Prime here or online here.

By the way… I use a JuiceMan Juicer that I bought for around $60 at the beginning of 2012 and it is still going strong.  I have never used a more expensive juicer like a Breville.  I imagine I’ll upgrade some day…but for now, the JuiceMan has worked just fine.  One warning – it IS pretty darn loud!
