Balance, Beauty and Calmness

Tundra Swans during Sunrise and Full Snow Moon Set at Whitesbog NJ

For at least the last 4 months I’ve been in what I call a “funk”.  It’s much more than that, but if I call it just a “funk”, then I can play it off, keep chugging along and deny that it should be a serious concern.  Winter blues, I guess. Each time it hits me, though,  (and it hits throughout the year – not just Winter) I’m never certain I’m going to make it through.

Thankfully, that “funk”  has been lifting and one thing that has been helping is spending more time in nature – like this morning!

Have you ever gotten little nudges, intuition kicks in, coincidences happen and you end up right where you’re supposed to be?  That’s what has been happening with me lately.  The quote from Campbell, “Follow your bliss!” found it’s way to me a few times.  Then I read an article about making time stand still by spending time in nature.  My bliss IS being in nature and it is as if time stands still when I’m immersed in it.  I enjoy few things more than wandering in nature and capturing things I find interesting with my camera.

I wandered a bit on Sunday morning…

It was a chilly morning – mid 20’s, luckily no wind.  Dawn was around 6:30 am, sunrise at 7 and the full moon setting around 7:20am.

I made myself a cup of coffee, put on my vintage camo insulated thrift-store pants, gathered my gear and headed out to Whitesbog.

Unlike the evening before, the dog (Molly) did not want to come with me.  She opted to stay in bed, cuddled up with my Husband.

Here you can see a video facing sunrise and then I turned it around to watch the Full Snow Moon setting as Tundra Swans slept in the water.

It was a beautiful morning!  Cool, crisp, calm.  As the sun moved closer to crossing the horizon, the birds started making more noise.  I saw and heard a Red-Winged Blackbird.  The Tundra Swans were chattering and some napping.  I think I even heard some type of frog make some noise.

It is times like this when time slows down – even seems to stop – for me.  I love it!
